Twinkie Tunnel Cake

by Anna on April 26, 2006 · 12 comments

This cake was inspired by a recipe from the newly published Twinkies Cookbook from Ten Speed Press. The idea, which I wish was my own, was to bury Twinkies vertically in a bundt cake. The book doesn’t go into detail about what ingredients you should use other than an 18.25 box of chocolate cake mix [...]

Midori Cake Review

by Anna on April 16, 2006 · 5 comments

The midori cake was a hit. The inside was a spring-like green which made for interesting conversation. The melon did transfer rather nicely to cake, and perhaps because it was tamed by the pistachio flavoring, was neither overwhelming nor weird. All in all, this was an excellent last minute party cake due …

Tropical Fruit Bars

by Anna on April 16, 2006 · 0 comments

It’s been a busy Easter. The Midori cake will make its debut at a party tonight, but earlier today I decided to make some Tropical Fruit Bars to take to another Easter party at a different home. After giving it some consideration, I opted to save the tropical bars for Todd’s co-workers. No doubt they’ll [...]

Midori Cake Part 2

by Anna on April 16, 2006 · 2 comments

Here’s a picture of what the Midori cake looked like before we cut into it. It’s kind of tacky looking, but I figured with a green cake, anything goes. Plus, it was for an Easter party. In the end, everyone loved it and it got great reviews. I think a few people even …

Midori Bundt Cake

by Anna on April 14, 2006 · 20 comments

Midori Bundt Cake is quick, easy and unique. The star ingredient (the Midori) is a melon liqueur commonly found in frozen Daiquiris, so even if you don’t like the cake, you’ll at least have a new item for your bar. I am unaware of the origin of this recipe but it strikes me as something [...]

This just in — Ghirardelli’s most intense chocolate dessert, created by the lovely and talented Gigi (who I’m hoping is reading the blog today) is now on line. Here’s a link to the recipe. The other winners are listed here. As soon as mine gets published in LHJ, I’ll post the link. Best of all, [...]

All-Bran Cookies

by Anna on April 11, 2006 · 4 comments

Our cereal collection is a little out of control. Rather than buy new ingredients, I decided I’d try to make a dent in the cereal stash by using some of it in cookies. The first cereal was All Bran. I figured Kelloggs.com would have some creative uses for All Bran, and I was right. The choices [...]

Midnights

by Anna on April 9, 2006 · 10 comments

This recipe was sent to me by Kristin who lives in Nashville, TN. You’ll also find it in The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion, one of my favorite cookie books. The KA book is packed front-to-back with cookie fabulosity, and that is the only reason I can think of for why I’ve waited …
