Heading Out

by Anna on August 14, 2007 · 15 comments

My parents divorced when I was in college and since then, I’ve had to divide my attention between the two. Traveling with them individually is something I’ve always wanted to do, and earlier this year I was able to take my dad on a trip to Chicago. It was so fun, that I decided to take a trip with my mother, so we are off to Las Vegas! We leave tomorrow.

Thanks for all the trip advise you all have sent me via email and in comments. It appears Cookie Madness readers like Vegas almost as much as Disney World. Excellent! Things are ironed out and we are staying at The Bellagio. We have reservations for Phantom of the Opera, Olives, N9ne at The Palms and Mesa Grill. My mom lives in a small town and is really looking forward to the experience.

I’ll try to take some pictures.

Amy, that’s good to know. Nice bathrooms are a plus.

Hi Kalyn! Thanks for stopping by.

Gigi, I don’t know what that means, but I will double-down for you.

Carol, I will try to do both.

Jenny, thanks for the tip! I will definitely check that out.

I’m jealous! It sounds like a great vacation, can’t wait to see the pictures.

Hi Jason, thanks for the tip. I have some vague memory of watching a TV show featuring an exceptional Asian restaurant off the strip. It was probably Lotus. I’ll fit it in…probably lunch. Too many restaurants, not enough time. Another place I want to hit during the day is a place called Nothing Bundt Cakes. A friend of mine who lives in Austin but does a lot of work in Las Vegas is obsessed with that place. They do a lot of mail order, but they also have a shop where you can buy/sample Bundt cake. Debbi, I’m usually behind the camera, but I’ll try to get someone to take a picture of me somewhere….or maybe my mom. Or maybe ALL the pictures will be of my mom in places.

Have fun Anna. Your trip sounds like so much fun.

I am obsessed with bundt pans. I didn’t realize they had a place dedicated to bundt cakes. I’ll have to go!

Bring back lots of stories!

Mesa Grill!! I’m so jealous. I believe that’s the one Bobby Flay owns. If you see him, get a picture! Enjoy Las Vegas :)

Hi Anna,

Wishing you a fab time in LV :-) . Hoping you’ll come back loving the place as much as I. Have to second Jason’s recommendation of Lotus of Siam. FANTASTIC Thai food and really friendly and helpful service. Talk to you when you get back…

Have a great time!! I’m so jealous you get to eat at Mesa Grill. Maybe you’ll see Bobby Flay! He’s come her for his BBQ show and I didn’t know it…darn it!
