I know a lot of you are working hard to come up with a $25,000 cranberry recipe for Ocean Spray’s Ultimate Cranberry Contest, but why not take a break and make something tried and true? Karen Haram from The San Antonio Express shares the recipe for a cookie from Nadler’s, a popular bakery in San Antonio.
Nadler’s Cranberry Slice (The recipe is in the little box on the right).

For another tried and true cranberry bar cookie recipe, try the one in the Gourmet cookbook (one of the best cookbooks out there, by the way): it is a kind of shortbread base topped with a cranberry-pecan caramel and drizzled with dark chocolate. It is sinfully delicious and light-tasting at the same time and looks gorgeous on a holiday platter.
Ah, this one!

After I posted it, people emailed to say they’d tried it and it was among their favorites. I can see why they put it in the big yellow “best of” Gourmet book.
You are way ahead of me!
Ha, ha. No way.
I’m going to try the Nadler’s recipe soon. I spent part of my childhood in San Antonio and their cakes were a *big deal*.
