Austin Locals and Visitors! Beer Pairing Dinner at Olivia

by on October 2, 2009 · 2 comments

‘Tis the season for beer pairing.   And  Olivia, whose chef James Holmes was recently named a Bon Appetit Top 10 Favorite, is hosting a beer pairing dinner with Brooklyn Brewery.  It sounds like a lot of fun.

The event takes place at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, and the menu showcases “the season’s best” paired with just the right brew, as selected by Holmes and Garrett Oliver, Brewmaster of Brooklyn Brewery.

Here’s what you’ll taste:

Oyster Diablo
Baked Gulf Oyster with a Spicy-Tequila Butter, House made Bacon, Parmesan Crust
Beer Pairing — Brooklyn East India Pale Ale

Yellow Fin Tuna Carpaccio
Boggy Creek Farm Arugula Salad, Black Truffle Aioli, Black Lava Sea Salt
Beer Pairing — Brooklyn Local 1

Orecchiette Carbonara
House made Guancial, Texas Quail Egg Yolk
Beer Pairing — Brooklyn Local 2

South Texas Antelope Petite Filet Au Pouve
Apricot Demi, Pure Luck Feta Cheese, Smashed Fingerling Potatoes, Mesquite Texas Olive Oil
Beer Pairing — Brooklyn Brown Ale

And my favorite….

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout Float
Paired with Crème Fraiche Ice Cream and Toasted Salty Beer Nuts

Between courses, Garrett Oliver will give brief informative descriptions and answer questions about beer pairings as he works the room.  So save up some good questions.

For reservations, call 512.804.2700. Olivia is located at 2043 S. Lamar Blvd, Austin TX, 78704
