Moving out of a third floor apartment takes energy, so this week I was happy to have a few boxes of Nature Valley Granola Thins on hand. The company sent them to us for a taste test, and they are terrific. They kind of remind me of my favorite British cookie, Hob Nobs, but thinner, lighter, square and coated with either dark chocolate or peanut butter. I also like how they’re individually wrapped, so I can carry them around in my purse. They’ve been a real-life saver and thanks to the Texas sun, I’ve learned they are delicious when melted and would probably make awesome S’mores. Hmmmm. I need to get on that, but first I want to offer you an opportunity at a chance to win some Nature Valley Granola Thins in a gift basket.
If you’d like to win a Nature themed gift basket with some Granola Thins, a mug, mouse pad and desk calendar (as pictured above), leave me a comment telling me where you go to get in touch with nature. It can be your backyard, a far away place, a park….you tell me. Fuzz and I will pick the winner at random on Thursday July 15th. Cut-off point is Wednesday–midnight July 14th. Good luck!
P.S. I really enjoy reading your comments in these little giveaways so even if you don’t win the basket, thanks for sharing.

Before I remarried, i’d take my son to the beach, parks etc. but since moving to Illinois, my husband an avid walker got me to start taking walks with him…..Now for some silly reason I actually put the leash on Olaf and we head to different bike paths and the like. But there is one nature path that is my favorite becuase it is very rare that we don’t come within inches of deers. Watching them get as close as they can to Olaf before he barks and they run away with such grace. It never grows old…..
One of the beaches just south of Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach – best beach ever. Also, really any beach when it’s raining a bit and none one is out except me.
There’s a man-made lake in a small subdivision near us. It’s a great place to walk around.
In my backyard! I have a small organic garden that I adore!
There’s nothing better than a Saturday morning walk at Town Lake (sorry, but I’ve been in Austin too long to call it Ladybird Lake) followed by a trip to the farmers’ market. There’s nothing better than that!
I go to the bay near my home. We are really enjoying it this summer and praying it stays oil free!
i really enjoy taking a brisk walk with my baby in tow. i control my breathing, being grateful for the fresh air, & try to focus on the sounds of nature.
My husband and I love to go to beaches in the San Francisco bay area especially during summer times..we take long walks in the evening sand and the time spent will be totally worth it!!! Thanks for this giveaway!!!

I’m so loving looking all around us here at MOUNTAINS! Really missed mountains in Kansas. I’ve got to get back to my early morning walks/jogs. That 1 hour alone time outside is my favorite. Yet here I am, still awake after midnight, which makes waking up to do that walking really, really hard.
I haven’t seen those NV Thins before. Yum!
I love heading to the Berkshire mountains in Western Mass, and spending a few days in the lush hills, away from cell phones, technology, and concrete!
I garden. Nothing like sticking my hands in the dirt to relax!
A walk along the shore just before dusk is one of my favorites.

Nature…… feet in the lake. Head in the clouds.
Hikes in the mountains. I try not to look back at the view below until getting to the top, but I never make it!
My current nature connection point is in my gardens. Veggie and flower. But my favorite is the Algonquin Provincial Park up in Canada. My hubby and I go there periodically for wilderness trips.
Jogging on the beach… luckily, it’s not crowded, so… it’s just me, the sunset, the sky, and the sand. air, ground and water
.
I love to get in touch with nature on the lake the my campus is on. The college rents out canoes and kayaks..it’s a perfect way to get away without going too far.
Near daily bike rides at the moment. Out in the Western PA countryside.
My ideal spot is a mountain road east of Santa Fe. Part of it is the old Route 66 and takes you through a little town called Pecos and follows a river up into the mountains. I LOVE it!
I grew up in the country, on a gravel road in the middle of a woods. My parents still live there, so when I need a break from my current city life, I drive to their house and enjoy the peace and quiet (and a great home cooked meal!).
I go up into the mountains of New Hampshire to escape and get in tune with nature.
I run with my twins in a stroller 4-5 times a week in our metroparks. We have a really great metroparks in the Cleveland area. I usually see 1-2 deer, bunnies and lots of squirrels during our run.
We are lucky enough to live next to a park, so almost everyday, I take a walk through the park. A few years back, the community college tried to obtain the land for future development, but the neighbors banded together and saved the park – you can fight development and win!!
Our house is surrounded by woods and I get to see all sorts of creatures when I go for walks. (Chipmunks, foxes, deer, etc) Unfortunately, this also means that the deer consider the plants in my yard to be a big salad bar and the raccoons get into our trash cans way too often. Hmmm…the more I think about it, the more I don’t like nature at all!
just sitting out on my patio on a warm day. simple pleasures…
I love just sitting on my front porch sipping iced coffee and watching the world go by
There is a pond not too far from my home with lots of ducks. I like to pack up a loaf of bread and sit quietly, feeding the ducks. I always leave feeling better.
I love going to my Dad’s boat and sitting there on the water just taking everything in! It’s so relaxing!
Every morning I take my ten month old daughter outside for a 4 mile stroller ride. We live in the country and get to pass by grape vineyards, farms, plenty of wild animals, and look out over Lake Erie. The fresh air and beautiful scenery is one of my favorite parts of the day.
Living in a big urban city (Montreal) Canada I take advantage of the beautiful parks that we have here considering that we have short summers and just walk and smell the flowers, it is funny how people look at you when you smell flowers. You should give it a try and let us know what people do. I usually get looks from people wondering what I am doing, but I think deep down others are saying I should be taking the time to do that also. So go out and smell some flowers. Enjoy.
A long bike ride on nearby country roads….
A park down the road from our home is filled with trees, wildflowers, and small animals. I love to sit back and take in the view while my children play on the swing set.
About 30 minutes from home is an arboretum. I live in the hot desert and this place is just beautiful. It’s not a place for my boys to run around because of all the cactus. They have a lake and around the mountain is a river. It’s just beautiful.
I go to Mercer Arberetum (sp?) in Spring, Texas a few miles from our home. It is so beautiful there and we can walk to the back where they have created a beautiful water pond with fountains and benches. There is also a bamboo maze to get lost in which is always fun for the kids.
I go for a ride on my horses in the pasture or take my dogs for a walk on the trails. Both are so relaxing and help me spend time with my animals.
I am so fortunate to have a “wooded” park near my house (about 15 minutes). It has approx. 300 acres of trails that are innerconnected. I LOVE to take my 2 puppies there and hike for an hour anytime I can get away. I listen to knitting, quilting, or baking podcasts…hike…play in the creeks…just relax and get myself back together. And the puppies get to expend some energy, big plus!!
I am lucky enough to have a good friend who has a house in Lake Geneva. We usually go up during the week when it’s not as busy. It’s great b/c it’s close enough drive from where I live but just far enough to be a good get away for a couple of days
Nature for me is at our log cabin in Wisconsin. I sit on the porch for hours reading, but connecting with nature at the same time. It is extremely peaceful and my family cannot often find me (even though I’m in the same chair everytime
).
Ideally, the mountains. But on a regular basis I just step outside my door and feel the power of the hot desert sun on my skin.
Taking my dog to the local park along the Susquehanna river. I always leave feeling peaceful.
Anyplace near water. Something about water makes me feel rejuvenated.
Our back yard is really nice. Thanks!
Upstate New York’s gorgeous Mohonk Mountain House is THE BEST
In a big city it’s hard to find a quiet, peaceful spot, but I like finding a bench hidden in the middle of Central Park.
An early morning walk at sunrise. We have the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets here in Arizona. The pinks, mauves, blues and golds are magnificent.
In my garden. I love planting and reaping what I sow!
OMG, you had me at hob nobs. YUMMMM. Now that’s a cookie for a copycat recipe!!! (Please??)
My yard, garden, and fields behind my house are peaceful but I love going to the woods and walking the trails by myself.
My favorite place to go to get in touch with nature is anywhere I go camping with my family. Sometimes we’ll go to Cape Henlopen in Delaware (which is not only a campground but also a beach!) or Seneca Rocks, which is in West Virginia. The skies are so clear there at night, you can see all the constellations!
This looks like a great basket! I go on a nice relaxing run outside to get in touch with nature, either around my neighborhood or at the local park.
I go hiking in a little park near my house. It may be right off a busy road, but once you get in, you can really connect with nature. The scenery is wonderful and all you can hear are the sounds of the birds and other wildlife.
