Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookes from Food Network Magazine Review

by on February 5, 2012 · 10 comments

If you’re a Food Network Magazine fan, be on the lookout for the March issue. Mine arrived in the mail yesterday, and while I was not surprised to see that the focus for February was chocolate, my expectations were exceeded given the choice of recipes. They included a lot of very doable chocolate desserts, and on top of that, the little bonus booklet that comes in every issue features 50 brownies recipes.

But naturally I got sidetracked by the chocolate chip cookie article where they listed a few different variations. I was craving thin cookies, and made those. They looked more like Tate’s Bake Shop cookies than the ones in the magazine’s photo, and they also did not take 20 minutes to bake, but rather 13. And mine must have been slightly larger because I got 30 rather than 36. Aside from all that, they were great. I just thought I’d mention those things in case other people try the recipe. We’ll see what happens when reviews start rolling in over the site where I found it.

I’m still baking off a cookie here and there from your Levain clone recipe. We’re in love with those cookies. I’m sure these are good too but I only have eyes for the Levain clones right now.

I’m LOVING this FNM issue!
Wish I could make AND eat everything in it. ;)

I saw that magazine checking out at Wegmans–it was indeed drool-worthy–I don’t subscribe, but thanks for the link! I’m more of a chewy than a crispy CCC person, but those look so fantastically elegant! They look like they would make a wonderful gift!

They look a bit like Tates, though the recipe has less butter and brown sugar. Was the texture close?

Food Network magazine is not on my radar, Anna. So thanks for the recipe…I like my cc cookies crisp too!

Rod, these have proportionately more egg, so the centers are a tiny bit softer than the Tate’s recipe (which is a favorite!). The Tate’s have more butter flavor.

These look super tasty but since I can’t bake to save my life, I will probably go home and burn the house down attempting to make them. Maybe I can get someone in the PCC office to make them for my birthday! Wish me luck! ;-)

At least you’ll have something to put them in :).

I’ve been serarching forever for a crispy chocolate chip cookie recipe that I like. I loved Tate’s and went on the internet found the recipe and follwed it exactly….wasn’t impressed. When I received the Food Network Magazine with this recipe, I was hopeful, but I have tried so many crispy chocolate chip cookie recipes and have been dissapointed. I wasn’t this time….they were GREAT! What I have been looking for. When I made them for a tennis luncheon, they got rave reviews. Many of the girls even took them for the drive home. I’m going now to make a batch…. :-)
