Happy Birthday, Michelangelo! Born on March 6, 1475, Michelangelo’s best known work includes the Sistine Chapel, The David and the Pietà. He shares his birthday with The Oreo. Born in 1912, the Oreo’s best known work includes the Double Stuff, the Cool Mint Creme and The Golden Oreo.
Celebrate both occasions with an Italian dinner followed by one of these very special desserts.

Or take the easy route and pick up a bag of the new Oreo Limited Edition Birthday Cookies. I saw them in the grocery store yesterday and wished I’d pick up a bag then. Looks like I’ll be making a special trip.

It feels so right that Michelangelo shares his birthday with the Oreo! The Oreo is that rare thing–a truly unique creation that is so perfect you feel as if it always existed, even though someone had to invent it from chocolate and cream. Kind of like Michelangelo releasing David from the block of marble…
To celebrate, I made your Outrageous Oreo Brownies with 14 Double Stuffed Oreos. I thought that might be excessive, but more Oreos was fine. http://www.cookiemadness.net/2008/09/outrageous-oreo-brownies/
Great round up! I love Oreos but have a special fondness for the Golden Oreos.
I was at the store today and noticed they already took the Birthday Cake Oreos away. I’d grabbed a package last week. The filling tastes like vanilla cake–strong vanilla cake. I put them chopped up in brownies and they were really good. Not sure I’d like them just plain.
But Happy 100 Oreo, yesterday–and Michaelangelo, which I did not know about.
