Todd Cooks Dinner

Today was a special day. It’s hard to understand the magnitude of how special unless you have been the primary cook for the past 9 years. Today was special because my husband Todd did something quite spectacular – he made a full dinner of miso soup, edamame and an array of various types of sushi. I joke about how he never cooks, and it’s true – he doesn’t, but he took on a challenge I issued a few months ago to “make us a sushi dinner on our ninth anniversary” and he accomplished it.

First off, I don’t know how to make sushi and couldn’t have taught him even if I’d wanted to. Plus, I hate fish, which meant the sushi had to have non-seafood fillings. Todd spent a few months researching what to buy, what to use in place of fish and how to serve it. He even bought a new set of chopsticks.

Fuzz and I spent some time away from home in the late afternoon. It was weird coming home to a house filled with cooking smells made by someone else, but weird in a good way. He had already made a couple of rolls, one of which was a marinated beef sushi, and was in the process of cleaning up and finalizing another roll which had cream cheese. This may sound like no big deal, but if you know Todd personally and how far removed he is from the process of cooking, you can understand my astonishment.

Anyway, this confirms my suspicious that software developers are naturally good cooks. Unfortunately for Todd, I could get used to this.

P.S. Sorry for bragging. But as a I said, this was a very special thing and my mind is going nuts with all the things Todd could cook if I just gave him a good set of directions and put forth another challenge. I guess I’ve lived a pretty strange life getting so excited over having someone cook for me, but this is just too great.

Happy 9th Anniversary Anna and Todd.

How wonderful that Todd cooked you dinner. It sounds like you have a great husband.

And I can’t get over how skinny you both are considering how many sweet temptations are in your house on a regular basis.

Happy Anniversary! I wish I had told my husband to cook for my birthday today instead of having him take me out to dinner. He cooked dinners the first two birthdays we spent together. Now all he’ll make me is pasta.

A thousand congratulations! Not only on the anniversary, but on the cooking hubby. I NEVER get a home cooked meal unless it’s made by me, and I would relish that with all my heart. Unfortunately, my hubby is a car guy, not a food guy. I’m pretty sure that if I ever came home and found him cooking I would drop dead!!
