Grape Nuts Peanut Butter Bars

A few weeks ago I saw an ad for cookies made with Grape Nuts. At the time, I didn’t even like Grape Nuts, but I was so intent on trying the recipe that I forgot about my childhood Grape Nuts aversion and threw a box into the basket. Flash forward to now, where …

Danish Biscuit Cake

Picking one recipe was tough because there are so many great Danish recipes. At one point our plan was to go with “Aeblekage” an simple dessert made with crumbs and applesauce, but in the end we decided to make something a little easier to divvy up between 200 Dixie cups. We are going to make “Kiksekage” or “Chocolate Biscuit Cake”, a no-bake recipe where you layer squares butter cookies in a matrix of chocolate, butter and (depending on the recipe) eggs and/or cream.

scotcheroos

Scotcheroos are one of my all-time favorite cookies, so you’d think I wouldn’t forget their name. But that’s exactly what happened this weekend when I got an email from my friend Janet with a recipe for a Rice Krispies bar made with peanut butter and corn syrup and topped with chocolate and butterscotch chips. My […]

Indoor S’mores

indoor smores

I found this recipe 30 years ago on the back of a Golden Grahams box, and even though I was only about Fuzz’s age, I was smart enough to know that something made with dry breakfast cereal could never come close to the real thing; because If you think about it, s’mores are the perfect […]

Swag Bars

Today’s recipe is based on a cookie served at The Swag Inn, a country inn in Waynesville, NC known for its beautiful hiking trails. It also appears in the current issue of Cooking Light where there’s kind of a cute story about how the cookie got discovered. I’ll let you buy the magazine …

Peanut Butter Fudge Crunch Bars

Happy Tuesday! It’s an exciting day for us because at 4:00, we find out who Fuzz’s teacher is and who will be in her class. Fun! But let’s get to cookie business now, shall we? First off, I want to thank those of you who over the past few weeks have given me peanut butter […]

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

I’m giving blood today, so I’ve decided to be proactive and eat the cookies beforehand. The sweeter they are, the better my chances of staving off dizziness, right? What? That’s ridiculous? Are you saying I’m going to be drinking Delaware Punch and eating Chips Ahoy with everyone else? Well, we’ll see …
