White Pizza

Modified: Aug 20, 2024 · Published: Oct 6, 2007 by Anna · This post may contain affiliate links · 11 Comments

White Pizza is adapted from Ann Hodgman’s book, One Bite Won't Kill You: More than 200 Recipes to Tempt Even the Pickiest Kids on Earth, which I highly recommend to anyone with kids or without. It's full of fun recipes, but even if you never make one you'll enjoy Hodgman's humor.

I filed this particular White Pizza under "Appetizers: because given the make-up of the dish, it’s the kind of pizza I like to cut into thin slices and serve at parties. It holds together well and unlike messier pizza, makes good finger food. However, because Fuzz likes it so much, I serve it to her as a lunch or entrée. The flavor is similar to garlic bread, but with less bread and more cheese. The quickest way to make this is with a pre-made extra-thin pizza crust such as Mama Mary's or (if you live in Austin) H.E.B.'s pre-made. But you could also use a homemade crust or canned pizza dough.

White Pizza

Fuzz’s White Pizza

1 (12 inch) pre-made pizza crust, thin type
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoons mayonnaise (light works very well)
1 clove garlic, mashed, or ½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon oregano
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded “Pizza Blend” or “Italian Blend” cheese or provolone

Preheat oven to heat given on prepared pizza crust directions.

In a small bowl, stir together butter, mayonnaise, garlic, basil, oregano and Parmesan cheese. Spread the butter mixture across the pizza crust. Sprinkle the shredded Pizza Blend cheese over the butter mixture.

Reduce oven heat to 425 degrees or as instructed on pizza crust wrapper. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until cheese is hot and bubbly.

Makes 8 servings

    Nicole, thanks for trying this.

Have you seen the recipe for candy corn pizza? That is, pizza that has a ring of white cheese, a ring of orange spaghetti sauce and a ring of yellow cheese that you cut to make wedges of pizza candy corn? I think I'm going to use this recipe as a base for that.

Great! We just made this tonight. We did 2, one with proscuitto and one as per the recipe. This would be fabulous for an adult party!

Hi Melanie, thanks for the compliment.

Apollo, that does sounds ridiculously good. Pizza is one of my favorite foods in the world. Some day, I want to try pizza in Italy.

Brilynn, have you ever tried shrimp scampi pizza? There are a few versions out there. I don't eat shrimp, but I think it's a fun idea.

Maria, I think more restaurants are catching on -- not where I live, but definitely in places with a large Italian community. Those Japanese pizzas sound quite interesting.

Hi DeDe! Texas is so big. I've never heard of Clifton, but I will go read about it on the Internet. Glad you are enjoying some of the recipes.

I just love your blog. My husband and I have gotten some great recipes from your site. My husband's new all time favorite cookie is now the Can't Stop Cookies.

I love to bake, and now that it's fall, I'm so looking forward to doing quite a bit of baking.

BTW - I'm also from the Texas Hill Country. I'm from the small Norwegian community of Clifton. What a beautiful region of Texas.

When I was in Japan, I had pizza a couple of times and most of them would be white pizzas. They were able to make them so delicious and scrumptious, using weird ingredients such as raw egg yolk and roe, etc. Weird, but the combination somehow worked well.

If only American restaurants would catch onto this white pizza trend...

I like making white pizzas, ideally with seafood on them! And I'm all for pizza night once a week, but it usually ends up being pizza lunch once a week, it's my favourite lunch though!

No, she's a great eater in terms of trying things. She'll taste anything once, but she doesn't care much for traditional pizza. Crazy, eh?

Is Emma a fussy eater? My niece Emily is so fussy and my sister just gives in to it. I think I might look at that book for her. My sister makes Emily a chicken cutlet every single night. If she were my kid( famous last words eh?), I'd make her try at least a bite of whatever I cooked.
