Our cereal collection is a little out of control.
Rather than buy new ingredients, I decided I’d try to make a dent in the cereal stash by using some of it in cookies. The first cereal was All Bran.
I figured Kelloggs.com would have some creative uses for All Bran, and I was right. The choices are interesting.
All-Bran Refrigerator Cookies
Blackberry Streusel Bars
Choco-Banana Bars
Chocolate Snowcaps
Date Raisin Bars
If you click on the link, there’s a picture of each cookie. Sometimes you have to see it to believe it.
We decided to take the conservative approach and make the All Bran refrigerator cookies.
There’s a nice spice cookie variation, so we chose that one. Finding the cloves took a good chunk of our time. I really need to organize my spices.
Finding the spices was the hardest thing. From there the recipe flowed smoothly save for one thing — the recipe says you *might* need to add some water. Well, we sure did. A lot. I think we must have added a full 1/3 cup just to get the dough moist enough to form into a tube.
Here’s what it looked like after the extra water was added.
Instead of chilling the dough, I put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Slicing it up was no problem.
And here are the cookies! They are very good — a little on the sweet side, but tasty. Fuzz loves them.
One thing I might mention is that the cookies could use a little salt. There’s no salt in the recipe, but you might try adding 1/4 teaspoon or even a little more.

They sure look good and I have all the ingredients on hand! 🙂

Jen, I eat cereal dry. Fiber One is a little thicker and crisper. All Bran is chewier and denser. Both of good with milk, but Fiber One is easier to eat dry.s’Kat, XXXVG stands for “Triple X Very Good!”. You only get that code if the cookies do, indeed, “rock” (as you kids say). Don’t know why you got it on these. They’re good, but not as good as Midnights.

I used to be a real cereal-freak, as well, and they all seemed to work their way so seamlessly into cookie recipes. And really, the granier, the better, but maybe that was just me.And, I really have to comment upon the sometimes odd “type-in, log-in, and publish here on blogger”: xxxvg.I’m not sure what that means, exactly, but I have the feeling it means your cookies just rock. 😉

Your cereal collection looks like mine. I’ve got All Bran, too, and never thought to look on their website for recipes. Is Fiber One that much better? I’ve never tried it.
